Most career-changers face a common frustration: online tutorials teach syntax, but employers want builders. NorthCode Academy exists to close that gap. Every program we run centres on project-based learning — the kind where you commit code daily, review pull requests from peers, and present working applications to panels of industry professionals.
Our curriculum committee meets quarterly with hiring managers at Canadian technology firms to audit what skills actually appear in job postings, technical interviews, and probationary review criteria. That feedback loop means our syllabi evolve with the market rather than trailing it by 18 months, as university programs often do.
We teach full-stack web development, data engineering, cybersecurity operations, cloud infrastructure, AI and machine learning, and mobile development. Each track includes a dedicated career preparation module — resume workshops, behavioural interview coaching, whiteboard practice sessions, and warm introductions to our network of over 150 hiring partners across Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
Six Tracks, One Mission: Get You Hired
Each program is built around employer-validated competencies, daily coding practice, and a capstone project that doubles as your portfolio centrepiece.
Full-Stack Web Development
24 Weeks ImmersiveOur flagship program. You will build production-grade React and Node.js applications, learn PostgreSQL and MongoDB, deploy on AWS, and complete a three-week capstone sprint with a team of four. Graduates have joined companies ranging from Shopify to early-stage startups across the GTA.
Data Engineering
16 WeeksPython, SQL, Apache Spark, and dbt. Build ETL pipelines that process millions of rows and present findings in Tableau dashboards used by actual non-profit partners.
Cybersecurity Operations
12 WeeksThreat modelling, SIEM configuration, incident response playbooks, and network forensics. You will run simulated breaches in our isolated lab environment every Friday.
Cloud Infrastructure
12 WeeksTerraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines on AWS and GCP. You will architect, deploy, and monitor microservices at production scale.
AI & Machine Learning
20 WeeksFrom linear regression to transformer architectures. Train, evaluate, and deploy ML models using PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Hugging Face on real-world datasets.
Mobile Development
16 WeeksReact Native and Swift. Ship two cross-platform apps to TestFlight and the Play Store. Learn state management, offline-first patterns, and mobile CI/CD.

Submit your application online. We review your motivation, schedule a 30-minute aptitude conversation, and send a decision within 5 working days. No prior coding experience required for most tracks.

Learn by Building
Immerse yourself in daily lectures, pair programming, and code reviews. Each week ends with a standalone project that reinforces that sprint's competencies. Expect 40–60 hours of focused work per week.

Capstone & Portfolio
In the final 3 weeks, your team tackles a real-world brief from one of our hiring partners. You present the working product at Demo Day — an event attended by recruiters, CTOs, and alumni.

Your career coach activates warm introductions, mock interviews, and salary negotiation support. Our graduates typically receive their first offer within 67 days of completing the program.
